My Homelab

A second-hand Dell R720 running Proxmox in a rack I built myself. I mainly use it for hosting my websites and for learning.

Dell R720 server, UPS and router in a custom aluminium extrusion rack with a wooden top
Custom rack: 2020 extrusions, plywood top, casters

Reaching the server

The server is currently in a place where allocating a public IP is not possible, so:

internet ─▶ Cloudflare Tunnel ─▶ apps
me ─▶ Twingate ─▶ Proxmox / SSH

Currently running

Proxmox VE 8.1 with a few VMs and LXCs

Experiments

I also experiment with open source self hosted apps once in a while. Recently, I tried hosting my instance of mattermost to replace slack.

The rack

Instead of buying a new or used rack, I built one from 2020 aluminium extrusions. The top is plywood I had lying around, cut to size, sanded, and finished with a clear protective coat. Caster wheels make it easy to move around.
